Urban Expressway Noise Barrier Project

2026-01-09

Project Background

This project is located along a busy urban expressway section, with high-rise residential buildings on both sides. Due to heavy traffic volume and high vehicle speeds, environmental noise levels far exceeded acceptable limits. Aolide (Shenyang Aolide) was commissioned to design and build this high-standard municipal noise barrier system.

Core Challenge: Noise Reduction, Wind Safety, and Daylighting—All at Once

When designing noise control for an urban expressway, Aolide’s engineering team focused on solving three key issues:

Wide-frequency noise control
The system must reduce both low-frequency noise from tire friction and high-frequency noise from engine operation.

Extreme wind loads
High vehicle speeds and turbulent airflow place significant structural demands on the noise barrier.

Urban visual comfort
Traditional all-metal barriers block views and reduce natural light for nearby residences, creating a closed and oppressive feeling.

Aolides Integrated Solution:

1. Composite Material Design

We adopted a hybrid structure combining sound-absorbing metal panels with transparent PC or tempered glass, integrating both performance and visibility—similar in concept to modern Curtain Wall Glass systems used in urban infrastructure.

Bottom and top sections
High-strength perforated aluminum alloy panels filled with premium asbestos-free sound-absorbing wool, effectively absorbing and reducing reflected noise.

Transparent middle section
High-transparency, high-toughness acoustic panels ensure clear driver visibility while reducing visual pressure and maintaining daylight access for nearby residents.

2. Reinforced Structural Stability System

Support columns are made of hot-dip galvanized H-section steel, anchored with high-strength embedded bolts. Structural simulations were carried out based on local maximum wind load data, ensuring long-term safety and stability even under severe weather conditions.

3. Modular, High-Efficiency Installation

As shown in the on-site photos, modular panels were installed using mobile lifting platforms. This approach significantly reduced road occupation time and minimized disruption to city traffic.

Why Municipal Projects Choose Aolide

Glass is custom-made
Processing requires lead time—typically 10–15 days for standard structures.

Tempered glass limitations
Once produced, tempered glass cannot be resized, cut, or drilled. Final dimensions must be confirmed before order placement.

LOW-E glass options
Depending on performance requirements, multiple color options are available. Feel free to contact us for details.

What Sets Aolide Apart from Others in the Industry

In-house manufacturing, not a trading company
Full control over quality, delivery schedules, and after-sales support.

25 years of industry experience
Mature standardization across products, systems, and processes ensures stable and reliable quality.

Practical, quality-driven approach
All raw materials come from top-tier suppliers. Advanced equipment and strict processing standards ensure consistency for both new and long-term clients.
